In the tension between railway romanticism and modernity

Welcome to the Alte Lokhalle Mainz. Get to know an event location that will give your event a very special setting with its striking architecture, modern equipment and incomparable atmosphere.

Built in 1903, the Old Locomotive Hall was originally used to maintain locomotives. Even then, it impressed with its characteristic circular shape and red, embossed sandstone cladding. In the 1940s, the hall was shut down and used as a warehouse from then on. Extensive renovation work finally gave the historic building a new and modern face: the striking window arches were opened, the roof and supporting structure were renovated, air conditioning and ventilation were installed and a new floor was laid. This resulted in an impressive building that draws its special charisma from the successful combination of railway romance and industrial practicality.

Today, the Alte Lokhalle Mainz, which is now a listed building, with an area of almost 2,500 square meters, is available exclusively for events of all kinds. There are no limits to your imagination when it comes to design: from galas and concerts to meetings, conferences and trade fairs, to product and project presentations - we advise and support you professionally in the implementation. Together with you, we create events that meet your individual ideas and wishes and that become an extraordinary experience for your guests.

Alte Lokhalle gets new locomotive

Our 18-ton small locomotive was delivered to the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft in 1934 by Arnold Jung Lokomotivfabrik GmbH, Jungenthal in Kirchen an der Sieg with the serial number 5852 as Kö 4439. After the end of the war, it remained in the GDR and was given the computer-ready number 100439-9 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1970. At that time, it was based in the Gotha depot.

On January 1, 1992, the DR had to adopt the DB numbering system and so our locomotive was now called 310 439-5. It was also taken over by DeutscheBahn AG, but was decommissioned by them on December 11, 1995 after 61 years of service. In the same year, the machine was added to the inventory of the Arnstadt/hist. depot and thus saved from being scrapped.

At the beginning of 2006, the machine was returned to DB Railion and parked in Erfurt. From there it was delivered to the new owner, the Alte Lokhalle Mainz, in October 2008.
